On-Site Bank

Have you recently lost the relationship you had with an on-site bank? If so, have you been able to back-fill their banking relationship with a different bank?

We do not have onsite banking, but we are willing to cash checks up to $100 for the residents at our Resident Services desk.

Our on-site bank arrangement with Fifth/Third remains stable.

SunTrust pulled out of our community at Thanksgiving of last year. We asked and they agreed to place a full service ATM on property. Previously we only had a cash dispensing ATM. We asked other banks if they wanted to move into the space but found no interest. That wasn’t a surprise. The considerable resident angst about how they would survive without an onsite bank faded after about two weeks and those that had never used an ATM became familiar with it.

We lost the branch bank in mid-January this year. It is my understanding that they also closed the other CCRC branches. Not only that, they closed a branch that they had in a nearby Harris Teeter. Finally, Pinnacle bank (which used to be Harrington) closed a branch in Southern Village. I think these smaller branches are becoming a thing of the past.

About 3 years ago,the bank moved out of the space they’d rented from us for many years. We chose not to back-fill, because we have other use for the space they occupied. We did arrange, however, with another bank to provide an on-site atm for our residents and staff.

In April of 2018 the bank vacated the space it leased on campus. We have not found a financial institution who desired to assume the space, though we were able to have our former bank provide a full-service ATM to provide users the ability to make deposits and cash withdrawals.

We look forward to repurposing this space to a new resident amenity!

We did lose our onsite bank. Fortunately they are maintaining a full service teller machine in our residents’ business center. We also include a local branch of that bank on our bus “shopping route” .

Yes, the bank left our community at the beginning of this year. No, we have not found another bank to fill the spot. We also could not find a bank interested in placing an ATM.
