We do provide child care on campus. In our particular arrangement, we own the buildings that were specifically built to the specifications of the operator and we lease the buildings to the operator. The childcare center is a five star center and will accommodate around 120 children. The center normally stays full with a waiting list. Our staff members have priority admission to the center and receive a 25% discount on the regular price for service.
This has been a good employee benefit for some staff members however we do not have as many staff members using this service as expected. One reason may be the higher costs of a 5 star center that even with a 25% discount may be more than some staff feel that they can afford.
One of the biggest advantages is intergenerational activities and visits by the children in our assisted living areas on a regular basis. Also independent living residents may enjoy watching the children play in the enclosed playground areas. Also parents and people throughout the area have become more familiar with the Retirement Community because we have this asset on our campus.
Our main childcare center opened in September, 2002 and an additional After School/Summer Program building was opened in June, 2017.

We do have a daycare on-site. We do give a discounted rate to employees. A definite benefit is that new parents can go see their children during breaks and mealtime. The biggest drawback is that our daycare typically follows the public school schedule for holidays and often closes during inclement weather before other daycares.

We do not have child care on our campuses. I wish we did have that service.
